About Us

AD lionsPeriod Designs brings passion and experience in design history together with the perfectionist’s attitude to fine craftsmanship. ‘Art Deco Contemporary’ is the company’s debut collection and is principally inspired by British Art Deco. The elegant and dynamic furniture, lighting and mirrors are clearly 21st Century yet speak of the owners’ love of British Art Deco, Modernism and the International Style. Iconic architecture such as the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill, designed by Serge Chermayeff and Erich Mendelsohn, the BBC’s Broadcasting House, the Midland Hotel, and many other commercial and private buildings have informed the shapes and expression of the range, created by John Masters, the designer. Each piece is hand-crafted to order in UK workshops and can be commissioned in a wide range of veneers and finishes. Upholstery is also to the highest standard and available in customer’s own materials. The launch collection is shown in Warwick Fabrics UK’s Legacy and Titanium textiles , many of which are available to contract industry standards.

‘Art Deco Contemporary’ is just the beginning. Period Designs will be introducing new ranges inspired by the past and combining the technological advantages of the present as soon as the artists’ instinct speaks to the founders, when the time is right.
